Marinas opens the playoffs

I practiced with eight 5th grade girls on Monday
playing Volleyball and to put it bluntly they stunk up the place.  They had no focus and they were having fun just being girls…

I told them “Perfect practice makes perfect...

Well I was proven 100 percent wrong.

The girls opened the play offs last night with a very convincing victory.  It was like the great beyond.

I'm breaking throughI'm bending spoonsI'm keeping flowers in full bloomI'm looking for answers from the great beyondI want the hummingbirds, the dancing bearsSweetest dreams of youI Look into the starsI Look into the moon

Well on this moon lit night the girls served like they had never served before, returned serve like never before and communicated and played as a team.

I am not even sure if they care if they win.

But last night they did…

and celebrated with class and dignity...

And that number 29, out there is Marina…

Well done

Mother Weart 1111

We are going to see Liz Phair this weekend and that should be fun . I Spent a rare hour or two yesterday reading an issue of Granta magazine that was dedicated to Global warming.

The average temperature of out planet in the early seventies was 59 degrees. So now when you walk around and it is 59 degrees out side you can relish in how average you are.

Well not any mare as in the last thirty years the average temperature on the planet has raised to 60 degrees.  And gee we wonder what causes so many late summer storms and the ferocity that they do indeed have.

We as American we are pigs. gluttons for everything that we do.    We consume, consume, consume with little regard for whats going to happen 30 years from now.

In 30 years my daughter will be 40. As Thoreaux observed , one cold walk outsides one house and in very little time could be in a place where nobody has been before. Those days are gone.

I have heard people argue that the earth has with stood the wrath of man for years…and this onslaught  is merely a scare tactic.

Funny how scare tactics are convienent when deemed fit.

My grandmother gave up smoking at sixty. Its never too late.

HummingBird

HummingBird
in this so called life on indentured servitude...
I get a call from my ex....that one oh her new fangled over complicated many people involved logistical plans went amuck and that I have to drop everything and bail her out so that she may prance this lovely earth in her hummingbird on caffeine like way of doing things.

and in my lack of intercourse  with here I have an actual email from here saying when and where and who and what and what colour and blab la bla and I think her response was

don’t trust anything at all that I type because
my three and zero key stick.

Lesson Learned

Morgans Automotive
And then there is the story of the auto mechanic of mine whom I called because my car had broken down on Monday.

I called today and asked how much and all the details. Remember the radiator had blown, and I thought it was originally my fault.

There response…

The radiator was defective.

We replaced it for free.

And we threw in a free oil change for your troubles…

TowTruck Trilogies # 2

I was teaching last night and as I got to class I had a stream of water spewing from my car.

I had to teach my class which left me distracted.

I usually take my class out for a drink on the last night.

I decided tonight was not going to be the night. Have a few beers and deal with a dead car.

I called the towing company and asked them to tow it to Rhine Street.

They asked me to lead.

I drove to Rhone street and somewhat believed that my mechanic had vanished into thin air.

The tow truck driver assumed I was crazy.

Rhone and Rhine Street were located within two blocks of each other.

Give me a break…

I dropped the Car Key to the broken car into the drop box and for a split second I had that lonely sinking feeling I dropped the keys to the working car into the slot .

I had not.

Can You Imagine a Tow truck Driver thinking that you are crazy.

Karl Rove is still a Dick.

20 miler

Yesterday I had the pleasure of running 20 miles
in the mud with my good friend Dan. We just ran and ran and ran and ran. And we talked less than normal bu we did take the time out to notice the difference in the Forest and how the deciduous tress lacked foliage and the same angles in the trail we know so well seemed so different.  I am not back to my competitive days of a few years ago. Dan and I easily qualified for the Boston marathon two years running but I am happy just to be outside and sharing stories with my friend Dan, enjoying nature and discussing what ever comes to mind.

In a concept probably know to few it is curious as two a 31 mile running trail that snakes across the middle of Portland can be a place to run into many of your friends. Wildwood trail in Forest park in Portland Oregon in any season of the year can be a stunning place and its no coincidence that we run into so many friends up there.

Now that the snows are heavy in the mountains it is about that time of year so that all those friends can email each other and take a much needed break from work and put on some snow shoes and head for the mountains.

For now today is today.. Concentrate at the task at hand, I feel out of it considering I fell asleep in front of the fire place.  At 9:30.

Running

the simple act of running is simply
that, putting one foot in front of
another and doing simply that running.

well today it was borderline freezing
and the rain was not as my running partner
said…

“It is really coming down”

and it wasn’t as it was coming
down sideways. but at least it was a cold rain.

and I am playing racquetball tonight.

I knew I was playing racquetball today
and I knew I was running but I never put two
and two together that it would be the same body
doing both of these activities.

that I need dry clothes for both.

sometimes warm showers are
orgasmic.

Yellow

I went for a three mile walk yesterday and I picke dup a book to give to my friend.
The books choose to describe people by colour…

And of course I started reading it and of course fully wanting not to be believe,

Guess what I am very much a yellow person.

Like: Yellow is luminous and warm because it is strongly associated with sunshine. It sparkles with optimistic activity. Yellow people are highly original, imaginative, idealistic, creative, artistic and often spiritual. You love novelty and challenge and have an inquiring mind. You are a reliable friend and confidant. Your ambitions are often realized, and you usually have a sunny disposition.
You are often egotistical, however, and do not like to be second best. You can be generous, but may be rather shy at heart and appear somewhat aloof as a result. You may be impatient with other people's ideas if they seem less well thought out than yours. You are genuinely concerned about the good of society, but generally spend more time talking about it than actually doing anything about it! Yellow people are perfectionists, but can also be joyful.
There is one line in there that is absolute bull shit. I really don’t see my self as a perfectionist. Any way.
I am not an angry person, but it is truly time to get angry, to get up in arms. Don’t want to be Myopic but this country is now the most hated laughing stock in the world. The kid in school that’s bigger than every body else, has the neatest lunch box, doesn’t have shopping bags for book covers but still happens to walk around with a big old fat KICK ME on his or back. It is that time again to get active, one voice at a time and one vote at time. One injunction at a time, For parents and non parents alike, it a more f*cked more polluted, less financially viable world that we are passing on to our children. It is our responsibility to do what we can to change that.
Its time to do something about that
